Why Share My Art With Grieving People?
A couple of days ago I was at Target picking up a few household items. My list included a bag of planting soil. As I wandered into the gardening section my eyes quickly took in the cute rubber boots, floral gardening gloves, and hand tools — the kind of things my mom used and loved. She died a few months ago and I’m surprised how unexpectedly grief can rush in with little reminders, like gardening supplies at Target.
I share my art specifically with those who are grieving because of our common bond of loss. It is my wish that little reminders of hope and grace will bring comfort to both giver and receiver of the lovely messages my paintings accompany.

As you look in any direction without your mom, nothing seems right.
The grief of her death is unique to you.
Painful memories are healed through forgiveness.
Adjustment comes as you figure out what to keep and what to let go of.
God understands all the dynamic you face in your grief and shows up as a “mother” who perfectly knows how to comfort Her child. I hope you will lean into those gentle God-arms and be comforted.
“As a mother comforts her child, so will I comfort you; and you will be comforted . . . ” Isaiah 66:13

Navigating your grief is likely the most difficult thing you will ever do.
I hope it helps to remember that Jesus is on board.
He is the one that takes you through each painful wave one at a time.
He once slept on the back of a sinking storm-tossed boat
~ fearless while those in terror cried out,
“Lord save us!”
HE DID!
He is still the expert at riding your rough emotional seas and
calming the grief storms in your broken heart.

Healing grief is difficult work
Especially when everyday offers new grief experiences unknown to you before.
But there is Someone who offers both comfort and wisdom to help you
through each new unknown season of grief.
God is faithfully bringing our heart to healing.
How enduring is God’s loyal love; the Eternal has inexhaustible compassion. Here they are, every morning, new! Your faithfulness, God, is as broad as the day. Lamentations 3:22-23 The Voice

the God of all Comfort.

I want you to know, I care.
But more than me, Jesus perfectly understands and feels
